School Supplies Donations: Reaching Young Minds, One Pencil at a Time

Last August 2024, I visited Libongao Elementary School and asked a simple but important question: “What do your students need most to learn better?” The teachers knew exactly what to say. Notebooks. Pencils. Crayons. Erasers. Correction tapes. File folders. Clear books. Small things, perhaps—but powerful tools for opening doors to learning. With a total budget of ₱49,500, we distributed school supplies to all 330 students across 13 sections. Each class adviser received ₱150 per student and was tasked with choosing and shopping for exactly what their students needed. It wasn’t just about giving—it was about listening, empowering, and responding with purpose.

The result? Classrooms came alive. In one room, I sat with boys comparing pencil sharpeners and erasers, their laughter filling the space. In another, the littlest learners—barely past toddlerhood—were busy exploring colors and crayons, guided gently by their teachers. And in a Grade 6 classroom, I was given a few minutes to speak. I reminded them that no dream is ever too big if you start with a pencil, a notebook, and a heart that believes.

These children aren’t just recipients of supplies. They are the next generation of scientists, doctors, farmers, engineers, and teachers. They are the heartbeat of our nation’s future. This is what education looks like in its most meaningful form—not just lessons written on blackboards, but compassion shared in action.

Join me in my next school supplies shopping this August 2025. Any amount of donation will go a long way to nurturing your minds. (Form below)

My deepest gratitude goes to the dedicated advisers of Libongao Elementary School for their wisdom and stewardship, and to every child who smiled, giggled, or whispered a shy “thank you.” We may not be able to change the world in a day—but we can place tools in the hands of those who will. And today, that is more than enough.

I love computers and gadgets and I hope through these, students use it responsibly in their quest for knowledge and empower their learning.

I have earlier given two laptops to two of their teachers. While I have procured some laptops for the CLC, some of my friends have also vouched to donate their used yet functional ones to make this vision a reality.

COMPUTER LITERACY: Empowering Young Minds: The Vision Behind the Computer Learning Center Project

In today’s fast-paced digital world, the importance of technology in education cannot be overstated. With the aim of fostering an inclusive learning environment, I am excited to share my vision for the Computer Learning Center Project—a space dedicated to empowering elementary students through technology and innovation.

The concept behind this project stems from a desire to bridge the gap in access to educational resources, particularly for students who may not have the opportunity to explore technology at home. The Computer Learning Center will serve as a vibrant hub where young learners can come together to enhance their skills, ignite their curiosity, and foster a love for learning that transcends the classroom walls.

Imagine a welcoming space filled with computers, tablets, and interactive learning tools, all designed to cater to diverse learning styles. This center will not only provide access to technology but also integrate seamlessly with the elementary curriculum. By aligning our programs with what students are learning in their classrooms, we aim to create a holistic educational experience that reinforces their knowledge while encouraging exploration and creativity.

As part of the Computer Learning Center, we will offer a range of after-school programs and workshops. These will include remedial computer classes, access to digital libraries and resources, digital storytelling sessions, and hands-on projects that allow students to engage with technology in meaningful ways. By motivating them to study beyond regular hours, we hope to instill a sense of responsibility and passion for lifelong learning.

Inclusivity is at the heart of our mission. We believe that every child, regardless of their background, should have the opportunity to thrive in a technology-driven world. By providing a safe and supportive environment, we aim to cultivate confidence in our students, enabling them to explore new ideas and develop critical thinking skills.

Moreover, the Computer Learning Center will also serve as a community resource. We envision partnerships with local businesses, educators, and volunteers who are equally passionate about nurturing the next generation. Together, we can create mentorship opportunities, organize community events, and provide resources that enrich the educational journey for all learners.

In conclusion, the Computer Learning Center Project is not just about technology; it’s about building a brighter future for our children. By providing them with the tools, support, and inspiration they need, we can empower young minds to reach their full potential. Let’s join hands to make this vision a reality and sow the seeds of curiosity and knowledge for generations to come.

AUDIO VIDEO LEARNING: EMPOWERING CLASSROOMS THROUGH TECHNOLOGY

Empowering Classrooms Through Technology: A Gift of Learning In the spirit of hope, progress, and inclusive education, I recently had the honor of donating 12 Smart TVs to Libongao Elementary School and 5 Smart TVs to Tabalong Elementary School. These gifts are more than just screens on a wall—they are windows to a world of knowledge, creativity, and discovery. As an educator, I have always believed that technology, when used meaningfully, can transform classrooms into dynamic learning environments. It can spark curiosity, deepen understanding, and bridge gaps between traditional teaching methods and modern-day learners. In many of our public schools, especially in rural communities, access to such tools remains limited. This is why this initiative is close to my heart. My objective was simple yet powerful: To make teaching and learning easier, more engaging, and inclusive for all students—regardless of their background. Smart TVs enable teachers to access multimedia resources, interactive lessons, and digital platforms that cater to different learning styles. For visual learners, auditory learners, and students who need more support, these tools open up new pathways to understanding. For teachers, they reduce preparation time and unlock new teaching strategies that are both effective and enjoyable. But beyond the technology itself, this donation carries a deeper message: That every child deserves an education that is relevant, empowering, and future-ready. That teachers deserve the tools to inspire. And that progress in education should be shared—not just by those in well-resourced schools, but by every learner in every corner of our communities. I am grateful to the school heads, teachers, parents, and learners of Libongao and Tabalong Elementary Schools for their warm welcome and inspiring commitment to education. May these Smart TVs serve as symbols of our collective belief that education is empowerment—and that together, we can build a brighter, smarter future for the next generation. Let us continue to nurture learning spaces where curiosity thrives, potential is unlocked, and every child is given a chance to succeed.
